What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Positioning a travel agency as your expert guide during uncertain times

The Assignment

World Travel is a Tulsa-based travel management and vacation planning company that has ranked in the nation's top 50 agencies. In 2019,  company ownership hired advertising agency lookthinkmake to develop a new brand and website that could support their ambitious growth. As lookthinkmake's resident website manager/digital designer, my work was underway when 2020 threw a wrench in the travel industry. We took the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and return to step one: understand the audience. What do travelers need and want most while the world is rapidly changing?

The Solution

We led with a streamlined site structure and intuitive navigation. Dropdown menus present specific travel and service categories that clients may be specifically interested in. World Travel's services are divided across personal, business and group travel, so there are often clear distinctions between customers. We wanted to offer each of them an exact route to what they need, while also showcasing the company's range as a whole.

To supplement service information, we expanded new content that would both inspire travelers with new trip ideas as well as provide peace of mind. Our agency copywriter built out a vibrant library of Destinations and Itineraries for users to browse. We also designed a "Traveler Tools" page to serve as a reliable one-stop bookmark for the latest updates and pandemic resources.

The travel industry was thrown a curveball in 2020, but I'm glad we could help World Travel put its best foot forward for that moment when people were ready to roam again.

The Process

Personas & User Journeys

I created four personas/user journeys in total: two before the pandemic, and two after. We took the radical shift in needs seriously, and considered the entirely new thought process that people might be having in regards to travel. Fortunately, some of my coworkers were helpful in joining me for remote brainstorming sessions to put our heads together in imagining these journeys.

World Travel presented a structural challenge: three separate company divisions required to stay united under one brand. After many hours of whiteboarding and revision, we reached a strategy to keep the concepts distinct but the user experience connected.
